Zig-Zag or Pointed Twill Weave

In zigzag twills the diagonal line proceeds either to the left or right. Where two lines meet they create a point, forming a continuous zig-zag effect in the fabric. It is the most important modification of twill weave produced by reversing the direction of twill. Zig-zag is produced by the combination of S-Twill & Z-twill.

According to the change of twill direction there are two types of zig-zag weave are-

1. Horizontal zig-zag
2. Vertical zig-zag weave.

1. Horizontal Zig-Zag Twill weave:

If the direction of twill line is change depends on the warp yarn than horizontal zigzag twill weave is produced. The repeat size of horizontal zigzag is calculated from the regular or base twill weave for example, if the repeat size of basic regular twill is 4*4, than the repeat size of horizontal zig-zag is 8*4.

#Features:

1. * Twill direction reverses upon the warp yarn.
2. * Number of warp is double to the no of weft in the repeat.
3. * Warp way twill is used as regular basic twill.
4. * Returning a straight draft in the opposite direction will create a pointed draft and does result in a horizontal waved effect.
5. * The change of the direction of starts finishes of basic twill repeat and makes point in the moment of change.
6. * V-draft or pointed draft is used
7. * This twill is made from any continuous twill.

2. Vertical Zig-Zag weave:

If the direction of twill line is change depends on the weft yarn than vertical zigzag twill is produced. The repeat size of vertical zig-zag is calculated from the regular base twill weave. The number of weft yarn in zig-zag weave is double of the number of weft yarn of base twill and the number of warp yarn is same as base twill weave. For example if the repeat size of basic regular twill is 5*5, then the repeat size of vertical zig-zag is 5*10.

#Feature:

1. * Twill direction reverse upon the weft yarn.
2. * Number of weft is double to the number of warp in the repeat.
3. * The direction of twill line is changed after the completion of repeat of regular weave and the point is created at the changing time.
4. * Both weft-way & warp-way twills are used.
5. * The reversal of direction starts when finishes of basic twill repeat and makes point in the moment of reversal.
6. * Straight draft is found.
7. * This twill is made from any complicated continuous twill.
